I am a PhD candidate in Human Geography at Free University Berlin.

Slated to be completed early 2026, my PhD research focuses on several interlinked domains of urban living: infrastructure, mobilities, and more-than-human relations in cities. Drawing on fieldwork in Karachi, Pakistan, I examine practices of inhabiting roads and the socio-material relations therein that shape everyday urban life. I look closely at flyovers, street vending, pigeon-human relations, and walking in an uneven infrastructural landscape. Weaving these empirical threads together, my work animates road interstices in the city of Karachi as important, if overlooked, sites of urban production.

My research interests therefore are related to urban geography, urban anthropology, and more-than-human geography. I primarily use ethnographic methods and draw inspiration from visual anthropological methods through the use of photography and video.

I have been teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Human Geography at Free University Berlin since 2021. To see a list of courses I have taught, see here.

I am from Karachi, Pakistan and currently live in Berlin, Germany.
